The Arizona Cardinals announced the signing of veteran free-agent cornerback Alan Ball after he worked out for the team Thursday.
The 31-year-old spent last season with the Chicago Bears, starting three games and appearing in 15 with 18 tackles and three pass deflections.
Ball, who stands 6-foot-2, is a veteran of nine NFL seasons split between the Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, and Dallas Cowboys.
With Cardinals cornerback Justin Bethel on the physically unable to perform list through the beginning of training camp, Ball could fill his role in practice, but will likely be used as a depth defender if he makes the final roster.
