Joey Bosa has drawn the ire of legendary San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson over his contract holdout.
Tomlinson, who was named the 2006 NFL MVP as a member of the Chargers, urged the rookie defensive end to sign his contract immediately as the season approaches.
"At the end of the day if he wants to be here he is in control of that and he's missing a lot of time obviously," Tomlinson said on NFL Network, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "Critical time he's missing. The chemistry that he could be building with this defense. They're starting right now to get a rotation going and the longer that Bosa is out the more that it's gonna be difficult for him to get in here and learn the system. So I would tell him, remember he's in control. If he wants to be out here, tell his agent to make the deal get done."
Bosa was selected third overall by the Chargers in the 2016 NFL Draft, but is holding out through the preseason, reportedly over a disagreement about the structuring of bonuses and offset language in his contract. Last week, Bosa's mother wrote that she wished her son "pulled an Eli Manning" and refused to play for the Chargers amid the holdout.
