A fan taking a stroll in Baltimore on Wednesday came across Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton performing an act of kindness towards a homeless man.
Newton had just left a team dinner at Sullivan's Steakhouse when Candace Gregory saw him give a bag of food to a man sitting beside a bus stop, she told ESPN's David Newton. Gregory snapped a photo of the moment, which her friend, April Boryczewski, then shared on Instagram.
Gregory said that, based on what was inside the bag, it appeared Newton had ordered extra food with the intention of giving it away. She also noted that it was obvious Newton wasn't looking to draw attention to himself.
"They were walking in a group and he slid over, gave the guy the bag and kept moving," she said. "It was a quick, smooth motion, like he was handing the ball off to a running back."
