Elliott admits visiting pot shop was 'bad decision,' insists he was just curious
Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott says his recent visit to a marijuana dispensary in Seattle was a learning experience - and nothing more.
"It was a bad decision," Elliott told reporters Monday, according to Kate Hairopoulos of The Dallas Morning News. "Just seen it walking around. Was curious. I didn't really think about it before I went in, what the repercussions could have been. It wasn't like I was trying to hide it or anything.
"I was curious. I didn't think I was doing anything wrong. I wasn't breaking any laws or anything. It was a bad decision, something I shouldn't have done. But I know now."
Team owner Jerry Jones and head coach Jason Garrett both publicly stated their disappointment in the rookie's decision.
Elliott has since apologized to his coach.
The fourth overall pick is expected to carry the load in the Cowboys' backfield this season and is a popular pick to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
