49ers' Quinton Dial: Expected to be ready Week 1

Dial (knee) will not play in Thursday's preseason finale against San Diego, but head coach Chip Kelly expects him to be ready by Week 1, CSN Bay Area reports.

Analysis:

Dial went down with a knee injury in last week's preseason loss to Green Bay and went for an MRI, but the team has inexplicably kept the results of the test under wraps. If Kelly is correct and Dial is able to suit up against the Rams on Sept. 12, he will serve as one of the team's three starting defensive linemen.
