Bears sign former Packer Josh Sitton to 3-year deal
The Chicago Bears have signed three-time Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton to a three-year contract, the team announced Sunday.
The Bears are expected to plug Sitton in at left guard while second-round pick Cody Whitehair and Ted Larsen will compete for the starting center job, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
After spending the first eight years of his career in Green Bay, it seems Sitton is content to punish the Packers twice a year for the next three years after his unexpected release on Saturday.
Earlier on Sunday the Bears released longtime kicker Robbie Gould to save $3 million against the salary cap, a move that makes more sense now.
Sitton has been one of the best guards in the league over the past five years, being named second-team All-Pro three times while a member of one of the best offensive lines in the league.
