Report: Wilson suffered 'significant' ankle sprain, Week 2 status in question

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson downplayed the severity of the ankle injury he suffered in Sunday's 12-10 win over the Miami Dolphins, but the sprain may be bothersome enough to put the star player's Week 2 status in doubt, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The Pro Bowl quarterback had his ankle twisted when the back of his heel was inadvertently stepped on by Dolphins defender Ndamukong Suh, as Wilson went to the ground on a play late in the third quarter. Wilson stayed on the field and led the team to a come-from-behind victory, but he was clearly bothered by the ankle for the remainder of the game.

"I kept telling guys, 'I'll play on one leg if I have to,'" Wilson said after the game.

Head coach Pete Carroll admitted to not knowing the extent of the malady, and said the team tried to keep him in the pocket to protect him.

The Seahawks will face a formidable front from the Los Angeles Rams next week and Wilson made it clear with a Twitter post on Monday morning that he expects to play.
