Jaguars' Ivory getting closer to full health
The Jacksonville Jaguars own one of the worst rushing offenses in the league, but that can all change with the return to health of one of their running backs.
Chris Ivory is that runner. The seven-year pro was signed to a five-year, $32-million contract in the offseason to complement second-year back T.J. Yeldon in the backfield. However, Ivory missed the first two games of the season due to a mysterious ailment and has seen limited action in the team's subsequent two games.
He also picked up knee and ankle injuries in his two games of action, but after resting during the team's bye week, he said he's getting closer to 100 percent.
"I feel a lot better," Ivory told John Oehser of Jaguars.com. "The knee feels more stable than it was. Right now, I'm just doing everything I need to do to continue to get healthy."
The Jaguars are third-last in the league in rushing, averaging just 75.2 yards on the ground per game. Ivory has carried the ball just 20 times for 43 yards, and Yeldon has 155 yards and one touchdown after four games.
Head coach Gus Bradley noted that Ivory has made large strides in his recovery over the last number of days. The Jaguars will hope to do the same Sunday against the Chicago Bears and their 24th-ranked run defense.
