Eric Dickerson believes Elliott can break his rookie rushing record

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott could eclipse Eric Dickerson's rookie rushing record for a season - according to the Hall of Famer himself.

Elliott leads the NFL with 703 rushing yards through six games, on pace for 1,874, which would break Dickerson's rookie record of 1,808, set in 1983.

Dickerson - who also holds the record for rushing yards in a season with 2,105 in 1984 - recently said Elliott could shatter his long-standing rookie mark, especially considering Dallas' offensive personnel.

"They have a great offensive line over there in Dallas," Dickerson told Talk of Fame Network.

"Dak Prescott is a great quarterback. He has a lot of upside and a lot of potential. (And) he can keep that eight-and-nine-man front off the line of scrimmage. But do I want him (Elliott) to break that record? No, I don't."

Elliott would need to average 110.5 rushing yards over his final 10 games to even Dickerson's rookie mark.
