Landry apologizes for block that injured Williams: 'If I could take that hit back, I would'
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry said he apologized for an illegal block on Buffalo Bills safety Aaron Williams after Sunday's game ended.
Landry was penalized 15 yards for unnecessary roughness after hitting an unsuspecting Williams. Williams, who suffered a serious neck injury last year, left the game and did not return.
"I apologized," Landry said via The Associated Press. "I just told him to get better. You never want to see that happen to anybody. ... If I could take that hit back, I would. It's a guy's livelihood."
Bills head coach Rex Ryan weighed in on the play.
"I hope it wasn't cheap," Ryan said. "I know Landry. I have a ton of respect for that kid. I wouldn't think he'd do that. I hope that wasn't the case."
