Chad Johnson concedes title as best Bengals receiver to A.J. Green
In a rare and unexpected move, Chad Johnson (formerly known as Chad Ochocinco) has shown some humility.
After watching A.J. Green lead the league in receiving through half the 2016 season, Johnson is ready to concede that he is no longer the greatest receiver in Cincinnati Bengals franchise history.
"To me, he’s the greatest (Bengals receiver) of all time because he can do things I wasn’t able to do," Johnson told the team's website. "High-point the ball. And he’s a much more consistent pass-catcher than I was."
Johnson, who spent 10 years with the team, holds franchise records in receptions, yards, and touchdowns, but doesn't mind if Green takes those from him. In fact, he's happy that the 28-year-old is the one on pace to do it.
"What better player would you want to break your record?" Johnson said. "Someone like that. The dude is pure class and plays the way the game should be played at receiver."
