Falcons officially place Trufant on season-ending IR
The Atlanta Falcons officially placed cornerback Desmond Trufant on season-ending injured reserve with a shoulder injury Tuesday.
Trufant suffered the injury during a Week 9 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Prior to the injury, Trufant recorded 31 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception in nine games. Trufant never missed a game during his four-year career before hurting his shoulder.
It's a devastating loss for the Falcons' defense, which is starting six players who are in their first or second professional season.
Trufant was named to the Pro Bowl in 2015.
After being placed on IR, Trufant tweeted out his gratitude to his supporters:
Thanks 4 all the Love and Well wishes. I'll be BACK!! TRU
