Ravens' Tucker advocates for extra point during kickoff

Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker is trying to find a way to boost his value via a prospective rule amendment.

On Tuesday, Tucker advocated for a new kickoff rule that would see an increase in scoring.

"The idea is if you split the uprights on a kickoff you get a point or you get rewarded for it in some way," Tucker said on "The Dan Patrick Show" via ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "The version I like is, you split the upright, you get a point. I've also heard that if you split the uprights, and instead of the opposing team starting at the 25, maybe they start at the 10, just to make the game a little more interesting."

Tucker's viewpoint was shared by Ravens head coach John Harbaugh on Monday.

"I'm on record as advocating that that should (count as) a point," Harbaugh said.

"I'm serious now," Harbaugh said. "But really, how exciting would that make it? "If we're going to make these touchbacks so valuable, let's do it, let's go for it."

Tucker is a perfect 27-of-27 on field-goal attempts this season, so his clinical accuracy would go a long way should the proposed rule change be implemented.
