Report: Giants rejected all-red, all-blue 'Color Rush' uniforms at last minute

Giants

The New York Giants will take the field Thursday night in all-white "Color Rush" uniforms heavily inspired by what the team wore in the 1980s, but that wasn't the original plan.

Pro Sports Rundown's Danielle McCartan interviewed Giants equipment director Joseph Skiba and got the scoop on how the team got cold feet on Nike's first few ideas for the Giants.

Initially, the team was presented with a red pants and jersey combination. That didn't go over well, with Skiba and Giants co-owner John Mara immediately ending the meeting.

The plan then changed to an all-blue look. The Giants reluctantly agreed to wear the combination, but reneged at the last minute.

Instead, the team proposed an all-white look inspired by the uniforms sported by players like Lawrence Taylor.

"I think it was a perfect opportunity to go under the color rush guidelines and give something complete new to the fans," Skiba said of the new uniforms.

The Giants' uniforms have been widely praised since their unveiling, so it certainly appears the team got this decision right.
