Report: Chargers, Rams request permission to interview Lions' Austin for HC
The San Diego Chargers and Los Angeles Rams have requested permission to interview Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin for their head coaching vacancies, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports, citing a source
Austin will be preparing the Lions for their upcoming wild-card game against the Seattle Seahawks.
San Diego fired Mike McCoy on Jan. 1 and Los Angeles dismissed Jeff Fisher on Dec. 12.
The Chargers have expressed interest in New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, and Kansas City Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub.
The Rams have been linked to several candidates, including Patricia, Joseph, Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels among others.
