Confident Rodgers backing off 'run the table' comments
Aaron Rodgers believes his team can go all the way this postseason, but he's putting an end to his "run the table" campaign.
The Green Bay Packers made good on Rodgers' prediction, winning six straight on their way to another division title and playoff appearance. According to the quarterback, the playoffs don't count as part of the table.
"Look, I just talked about running the table and getting into the playoffs," Rodgers said Wednesday, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "Obviously, it's win or go home at this point. That's the focus. Keep on winning and get this thing to Houston."
Rodgers wasn't too humble, stating "of course, (he) absolutely" believes the Packers have what it takes to make a long run in the playoffs.
He doesn't want to jump the gun on any playoff predictions, knowing how hard January football can be. Rodgers remembers his first MVP season in 2011 with a 15-1 team that was certain the Lombardi Trophy was coming their way.
"It doesn't always bear out that way," Rodgers said. "The season in '11, I thought we were going to run through that thing and be in the Super Bowl. But every year, you have that feeling right now where you know that it could happen."
Rodgers and the Packers have a tough test right out of the gate, taking on fellow Super Bowl winning quarterback Eli Manning and the New York Giants on Sunday night.
