North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky announced Monday on The Players' Tribune that he will declare for the 2017 NFL Draft.

"I want to say thank you to every single coach I’ve ever had, from my dad when I was just seven years old and I got excited every time I made the ball spiral, to Coach Fedora and his staff, who improved my skills and pushed me to a higher level as a player," Trubisky said.

The junior completed 68.9 percent of his passes this season, throwing for 3,748 yards and 30 touchdowns, with six interceptions in his first year as a starter. He also added another five touchdowns on the ground.

For his career, the 6-3, 220-pound Trubisky threw for 4,762 yards and 41 touchdowns, with 10 interceptions.

In 2016, the Ohio native led the Tar Heels to an 8-5 record, ending with a 25-23 loss to Stanford in the Sun Bowl, after Trubisky led his team on a 97-yard touchdown drive before being sacked on the two-point conversion attempt to force overtime.

"Going to the NFL has been my goal ever since I was a little boy. And now that I have that chance, I’m incredibly excited," Trubisky continued.

Both Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay of ESPN have Trubisky as their top-rated quarterback for the 2017 NFL Draft, with the former having the signal-caller as his 16th best prospect overall and the latter 21st.
