What a year it's been for Anthony Lynn and what a day it's been for the now-Los Angeles Chargers.
After announcing their upcoming move from San Diego to Los Angeles on Thursday morning, in the evening, the Chargers went to work finalizing a deal to make Lynn their next head coach, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports, citing a source.
Lynn began the 2016 season as the running backs coach of the Buffalo Bills. He was promoted to offensive coordinator at the end of Week 2 and then climbed to interim head coach after Rex Ryan was fired in Week 17.
Now, he will take the reigns of a Chargers outfit that finished the year 5-11 and will be playing the next two seasons in a soccer stadium as they await the billion-dollar facility being built by their fellow-tenant Los Angeles Rams.
Former Chargers head coach Mike McCoy was fired at the end of the season.
