Report: Facebook encouraged Brown to live stream locker room
Antonio Brown's live stream of the Pittsburgh Steelers' locker room was reportedly not done on a whim.
The star receiver was actually encouraged by Facebook to engage in a Facebook Live session from the locker room following last weekend's win over the Kansas City Chiefs, a league source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Brown reportedly has a six-figure marketing deal with the social media giant.
Another source said that, while there was contact between Facebook and Brown, he was not told to live broadcast the locker room.
Brown's 17-minute video captured head coach Mike Tomlin calling the New England Patriots "assholes" and was a clear violation of the NFL's social media policy.
If Facebook did, in fact, direct Brown to broadcast the Steelers' locker room, it could further complicate the situation as it could be seen as a violation of the league's broadcast deals, notes Florio.
