Brady avoids questions about Trump: 'I haven't paid much attention'

Troy Taormina / USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady appears to be one of the few people unaware of President Donald Trump's rampant policy changes.

Brady has defended his friendship with Trump on numerous occasions, after a "Make America Great Again" hat was found in his locker prior to the 2015 season.

Trump instituted a travel ban, keeping citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from traveling to the United States and fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates.

Brady said he was not familiar with what's been happening since Trump took office.

"What's going on in the world? I haven't paid much attention. I'm just a positive person," Brady said via Jim Chairusmi of the Wall Street Journal.

Brady later said that he's avoiding speaking about politics prior to the Super Bowl.

"I'm not talking about politics at all, I just want to focus on this game."
