Super Bowl LI: By the numbers

Super Bowl LI will pit the NFL's No. 1 scoring offense against the No. 1 scoring defense, as you've probably heard, but there are many other numbers related to the game worth knowing.

Let's break it down:

1.3 billion: Estimated number of chicken wings Americans will consume on Super Bowl Sunday.

49.2 million: Estimated cases of beer sold on Super Bowl Sunday.

$5 million: Average cost of a 30-second Super Bowl commercial.

$107,000: Bonus paid to each player on the winning team. The losers will earn $53,000.

$2,100: Price of a Super Bowl ticket on the secondary market (and dropping), significantly less than in previous years.

540: Points scored by the Falcons this season - seventh-most in NFL history. The Patriots scored 441, good for third in the league.

+250: Vegas odds that the color of Gatorade dumped on the winning coach will be yellow. Purple and red are long shots at +900.

117.1: Matt Ryan's passer rating - fifth-best of all time.

91.4: Yards after catch allowed per game by the Patriots this season - best in the NFL. The Falcons allowed 132.9, or dead last.

58: Vegas over/under for the game - highest in Super Bowl history.

55.8: Percent of Falcons drives that resulted in a field goal or touchdown this season, the second-best rate this century (best: Patriots, 2007).

25.4: Points per game allowed by the Falcons' defense this season - second-most of any team to reach the Super Bowl (Cardinals, 2008).

13: Number of Falcons players who caught a touchdown pass this season, an NFL record.

11-1: Record of the team wearing white in the past 12 Super Bowls. The Patriots will wear white.

9: Super Bowl appearances for the Patriots, an NFL record. Additionally, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will make their seventh Super Bowl appearances with the Patriots, both NFL records.

7.91: Matt Ryan's lowest yards per passing attempt in a game this season, beating the previous record by more than a yard.

7-6: Patriots' record in their all-time series against the Falcons. The last time they played was in September 2013.

6th: Time the NFL's top-scoring offense will meet the top-scoring defense in the Super Bowl. The defense has won four of the last five such contests.

5: Super Bowl appearances combined for the entire Falcons roster. Tom Brady has six himself.

4: Games Tom Brady was suspended for his involvement in the Deflategate scandal.

3: Of the last four Super Bowls have involved Falcons head coach Dan Quinn. He was the Seahawks' defensive coordinator for the previous two.

2: Months, by the time the Super Bowl is played, since Matt Ryan last threw an interception.
