Browns' Thomas calls draft combine 'cattle auction' in scathing critique
It's combine week in the NFL. Time for "the Underwear Olympics," when hundreds of college kids are run through a course of drills.
There aren't many NFLers who remember the scouting combine with fondness. Joe Thomas certainly isn't one of them.
The Cleveland Browns' left tackle let off a stream of tweets Monday morning, expressing his displeasure with the form of scouting.
Sorry 2 the suckers that have to go to the cattle auction this week! Don't forget to lie to teams and say how much "fun" it is! #combine

Don't worry; the staff, coaches, and mgmt don't want to be there anymore than you do, so you're not alone. Great for fans though.

One Twitter follower thought it was an opportune time to get some insight into the combine.
@joethomas73 weirdest question asked if you at the combine? #JoeKnowsJoe

My top 2 I remember was: 1)why don't you want to look a gift horse in the mouth?
— Joe Thomas (@joethomas73) February 27, 2017
2) if I had to be a cat or a dog, which would I be? https://t.co/dnFenZbPzh
The cat/dog ? is the oldest one in the book, and you're prepared beforehand to answer "dog", cause apparently the NFL doesn't like "cats". https://t.co/MGKi9r5yMp

The gift horse ? just confused me and I think I went silent, probably why I dropped down to #3. JaMarcus must have nailed that one. https://t.co/MGKi9r5yMp

Thomas was the third overall pick of the 2007 draft, taken behind No. 1 pick JaMarcus Russell and second choice Calvin Johnson.
