Matthew Emmons / USA TODAY Sports

The NFL's salary cap will take another sizable leap, increasing to $167 million in 2017 from 2016's figure of $155 million.

The cap has now increased by $44 million over the past four offseasons after hovering around $120 million for the previous five seasons:

  • 2016: $155.27 million
  • 2015: $143.28 million
  • 2014: $133 million
  • 2013: $123 million
  • 2012: $120.6 million
  • 2011: $120 million
  • 2010: Uncapped
  • 2009: $123 million

The annual increases have resulted in an unprecedented number of teams with tens of millions of dollars to spend in free agency.
