McCaffrey boasts about versatility, says he feels disrespected
Christian McCaffrey is one of this year's most intriguing prospects thanks to his versatile skill set and the question of how it will transition to the professional level.
The former Stanford running back spoke with the media on Thursday at the NFL Scouting Combine and said he believes his versatility sets him apart from the other running backs in the class.
"I pride myself in running great routes and catching the ball well," McCaffrey said, according to Joe Everett of nfldraftbibe.com. "I will line up wherever they want me."
But don't think McCaffrey is limiting himself to being just a gimmick player in the NFL.
"I want to be an every-down back and a return specialist," McCaffrey said, according to Joe Fann of the 49ers' official site.
Along with Dalvin Cook and Leonard Fournette, McCaffrey is considered a top running back prospect, with most expecting him to be drafting somewhere between the end of the first round and the middle of the second.
Despite this, the 20-year-old said he feels disrespected compared to the other running backs in his class and added he plays with a chip on his shoulder, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post.
McCaffrey had 3,922 rushing yards and 1,202 receiving yards over his three-year career at Stanford and said he'll showcase both skills by doing all the running back drills at the combine and the wide receiver drills at his pro day, according to Jhabvala.
