Watch: Cook, Fournette post near-identical 40-yard dash times
Dalvin Cook and Leonard Fournette are the consensus top two running backs in this year's draft, and the two prospects continued to be neck-and-neck during the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday.
Cook ran the 40 in 4.49 seconds while Fournette was timed at 4.51, though the latter's time was more impressive considering he weighed in 30 pounds heavier.
After Fournette's disappointing vertical jump of 28.5 inches, it was important for the former LSU standout to impress in the 40, and he did just that.
The other top running back in this class, Christian McCaffrey, posted an official time of 4.48 seconds.
T.J. Logan, formerly of North Carolina, posted the best time among running backs with a 4.37-second run, likely boosting his draft stock. He was expected to be selected in late rounds of the draft.
Here are some other notable times:
Player | College | Time |
---|---|---|
Joe Williams | Utah | 4.41 |
Tarik Cohen | North Carolina A&T | 4.42 |
Marlon Mack | South Florida | 4.50 |
Alvin Kamara | Tennessee | 4.56 |
Kareem Hunt | Toledo | 4.62 |
Samaje Perine | Oklahoma | 4.65 |
