Report: Top prospect Foster sent home from combine over argument with doctor
The NFL draft's top inside linebacker prospect, Reuben Foster, is being sent home from the combine after a heated argument with a hospital worker, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Alabama product was scheduled for team interviews Friday night and tests on Saturday, but will fly home to Tuscaloosa instead, according to Schefter.
Foster's confrontation was with a doctor, and wasn't physical, a source told Yahoo's Charles Robinson.
An NFL spokesperson told Schefter that the dismissal was for "personal reasons," but wouldn't elaborate.
Foster was expected to be among the fastest linebackers at the combine, though he wasn't scheduled to compete in drills due to a recent shoulder surgery.
An impressive 40-yard dash time at his pro day could have virtually secured his place as a top-10 selection, but his reported dismissal from the combine puts that in jeopardy.
The 22-year-old was a unanimous All-American and won the Dick Butkus Award as college football's best linebacker in 2016, recording 115 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and seven sacks through 15 games.
