Report: Redskins GM away from team facility as free agency begins
One of the most important dates on a general manager's calendar - the beginning of free agency - is days away, but Washington Redskins GM Scot McCloughan is not at Redskins Park.
The free agency negotiating period began Tuesday, but McCloughan is not at the team facility, Liz Clarke and Mike Jones of the Washington Post report.
McCloughan was not at last week's scouting combine either as he reportedly attended to a death in his family.
Clarke and Jones reached out to Redskins personnel who informed them the team is simply "busy with free agency" and offered nothing on the whereabouts and status of the team's GM.
NFL teams are currently embroiled in contacting the agents of players who will become unrestricted free agents Thursday. It appears the Redskins are doing so without McCloughan, who was hired in 2015.
