Free-agent quarterback Brian Hoyer is drawing strong interest from both the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Both teams are notably in need of a starting quarterback and Hoyer has experience playing under new 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan and drew interest from the Jets last year, Rapoport notes.
Hoyer played well in relief of injured quarterback Jay Cutler last year. In five starts and one relief appearance, Hoyer completed 67 percent of his passes and threw six touchdown passes against zero interceptions.
His season was cut short when he suffered a broken arm during a Week 7 game. However, Hoyer may have shown enough to prove he can start with a rebuilding franchise.
