The Baltimore Ravens have selected outside linebacker Tim Williams out of Alabama in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Williams is the second Alabama prospect Baltimore's drafted this year after selecting cornerback Marlon Humphrey in the first round. The Ravens also already have star inside linebacker C.J. Mosley from Alabama.

The Crimson Tide product is the fourth straight defensive player drafted by the Ravens and the second pass-rusher taken after Tyus Bowser from Houston went to Baltimore in the second round.

Tim Williams Bio

Position: OLB
School: Alabama
College Experience: Senior
Height: 6-4
Weight: 252 lbs.

Strengths

  • Williams explodes off the snap and beats opposing tackles with tremendous acceleration and quickness.
  • Demonstrates a propensity to beat opposing linemen from the inside or outside, making him difficult to prepare for pre-snap.
  • Due to his outstanding speed, shows the ability to defend tight ends and running backs in coverage.
  • Recorded 16 tackles for loss and nine sacks during his final season at Alabama, numbers that indicate he could be the next great pass-rusher from the SEC giant.

Weaknesses

  • Will need to prove that his past indiscretions are behind him after multiple failed drug tests and a gun possession arrest during his tenure at Alabama.
  • Struggles to disengage from offensive tackles, especially in the run game.
  • Because of his limitations against the run, may be used only on obvious passing downs.
