San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman will likely return to the on-field portion of the team's offseason workouts in two weeks, head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed during his press conference Monday.

Bowman tore his Achilles in October and spent the winter recovering from his latest gruesome injury.

The four-time All-Pro is the central tenet of the 49ers' defense, and is expected to lead a unit that faltered drastically in 2016, ranking last in total defense, rushing defense, and points per game (30).

Bowman previously suffered a devastating ACL and MCL injury during the 2013 NFC Championship Game, which held him out of the entire 2014 season.

Prior to his Achilles injury, Bowman recorded 35 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and an interception.
