Amendola deletes tweet thanking Trump after fan backlash
Danny Amendola thought he'd avoid the spotlight Wednesday. He was wrong.
The New England Patriots receiver skipped the team's White House visit - along with 34 of his teammates - so he could attend the funeral of a friend and continue his offseason workouts.
However, no one told Donald Trump, who made a special shoutout to the veteran.

After being informed of the president's nod, Amendola took to Twitter to express his gratitude and explain his absence.
But, as many had assumed his absence was a sign of protest against Trump, he received a slew of critical tweets for his acknowledgement, and eventually deleted his post.
For The Win was able to take a screenshot of the tweet, which included a photo of Amendola working out.
