Browns, Redskins deny discussing Cousins trade

During the opening night of the NFL Draft which spurred numerous trades in the first round, the Cleveland Browns and Washington Redskins reportedly entertained a trade involving quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Amid a flurry of rapid movement, both teams briefly caught the football world's attention, with the prospect of Cousins going to the Browns solidifying their long-term woes at the position.

After the first round concluded, both teams denied the veracity of the report.

Browns executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown dismissed the notion as "bad reporting," according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden noted the team did not "receive one call" about a prospective trade for Cousins.

Cousins was given the franchise tag for the second consecutive season in February.

It doesn't appear the Browns have found their franchise quarterback just yet, but on a night where they acquired Myles Garrett, Jabrill Peppers, and David Njoku, they're certainly feeling better about their future.
