The Indianapolis Colts have parted ways with vice president of football operations Jimmy Raye III as new general manager Chris Ballard restructures the team's scouting department, sources told Albert Breer of MMQB.
Raye had been a strong candidate to take over as general manager after Ryan Grigson's firing this offseason, and interviewed for the position. Breer adds that Ballard is looking to bring in his "own guys" and that letting Raye go was as amicable a process as possible.
The team also fired a large part of its college scouting staff Sunday.
Raye had been with the Colts as their VP of football operations since 2013 after previously serving as the San Diego Chargers director of player personnel from 2008 to 2012.
