- O.J. Howard joining the Buccaneers knocks Cameron Brate out of the top 10, but Brate is still the more attractive fantasy option this season. Rookie tight ends tend to take time before they produce consistent stats in the NFL.
- Evan Engram will be an interesting test case for that theory, since the rookie is more of a wideout than a tight end at 6-3, 227 pounds. Engram will also have to deal with a stacked receiving corps of Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall, and Sterling Shepard.
- David Njoku might have the best chance to excel early, after the Browns released veteran Gary Barnidge. Unfortunately, he'll be catching his passes from Cody Kessler in an offense that won't be visiting the end zone often.

- There were rumors the Falcons considered moving up to secure one of the top rookie tight ends, but in the end they didn't address the position and Austin Hooper remains a breakout candidate.
- Handcuffing tight ends seems ridiculous, but Jordan Reed's injury history and Vernon Davis' success filling in for him makes it at least a situation to consider in leagues with deep benches.
