A look at Peyton Manning's funniest TV bits ahead of ESPYS hosting gig
Peyton Manning was a genius on the football field. And, as we're sure you know - considering he's been in what feels like every commercial for the past decade - the retired quarterback's talent for comedy is nearly as impressive.
With Manning signed on to host this year's edition of the ESPYS on July 12, we take a look back at some of his funniest moments on TV:
"Cut that meat!"
If you asked 100 people to name a quote from a Peyton Manning commercial, 99 of them would likely respond with the classic, "Cut that meat" line from this Mastercard spot.
Peyton and Eli = Magic
One Manning is good, two Mannings are great, but two Mannings pretending to be "Football Cops" are perfection.
Watch this fake trailer and tell us you wouldn't tune into the show. I dare you.
"That guy's pretty good"
Sometimes, all you need is a funny mustache.
In this underrated gem, Manning pokes fun at his love of audibling - first explaining that he uses a rare form of Gaelic at the line of scrimmage, and then saying he just likes to throw out random words. Manning's deadpan reactions are amazing.
"A lot of times, Kenny, we have no idea what we're doing. But the defense doesn't know that we don't know what we're doing. Now that's the next level."
While Manning has never hosted the ESPYS before, he did take part in one of its funnier skits. In a parody of the 2009 movie "The Blind Side," Manning is kidnapped by a deranged Sandra Bullock.
Manning's cry for help in a school essay is the highlight. "Help me, I've been kidnapped by the lady from Speed."
And last, but by no means least, Manning submitted a legendary performance on "Saturday Night Live." It was highlighted by this fake advert in which Manning is a terrible mentor to a group of young children.
If you don't find Peyton Manning repeatedly hitting kids with footballs, while also throwing verbal abuse at them, hilarious, you might not have a soul.
