Five months after offseason surgery on his right shoulder, Andrew Luck hasn't resumed throwing, although he was expected to begin work several months ago.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay attempted Thursday to allay fears his franchise quarterback might not be ready for the start of the regular season, saying Luck was "healing tremendously" from the January procedure, according to ESPN's Mike Wells.

"This (surgery) has been a positive thing, not a negative thing or anything like that," Irsay told fans during an event held on the Butler University campus. "(Luck) was really struggling going through the process of being ready to play (each week last season). This was, quite frankly, not that complicated of a surgery. This was a simple labrum repair. There are a lot of other things that could have been involved with this surgery that weren't."

However, Irsay echoed head coach Chuck Pagano's consistent message this offseason that the Colts won't put a concrete timetable on Luck's return to practice.

Luck was also at the event, but didn't go into detail about his recovery.

"Feeling great," Luck said. "Rehab is going well. It's a long and patient process."

While playing through the shoulder issue last season, Luck returned to form following an injury-ravaged 2015 campaign. The star pivot threw 31 touchdowns and 4,240 yards in 15 games, but the Colts failed to the make the playoffs for the second straight year.
