Are Cowboys ready to break from tradition and wear more blue at home?

The Dallas Cowboys own one of the most iconic looks in sports.

Aside from the star, the Cowboys are best known for wearing white jerseys at home while much of the rest of the NFL reserves their white jerseys for road games. Originally, former Cowboys general manager Tex Schramm had the team wear white at home in order to give fans a look at the different colors worn by the road team, rather than a white-versus-blue look every week.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones likens his team's white home look to the New York Yankees' pinstripe uniform. But he may finally be ready to add some more color to home games.

"We'll incorporate navy a little bit more," Cowboys equipment director Mike McCord told Cameron DaSilva of FOX Sports.

"You've already seen the last couple of years where we started wearing navy at home on Thanksgiving, and that's all kind of in relation to the Color Rush uniform. We've had some success wearing that uniform, so I think we'll see a little more of it."

McCord, a Cowboys employee since 1989, said players prefer the blue uniform as 15-16 games in the white jersey with turquoise-gray pants can get tiresome.

The Cowboys also own some of the top-selling jerseys and have identified that a significant portion of the jerseys being purchased are the blue sets.

"I don't think we'll ever go to wearing the dark jersey at home completely, but I think we might add a game or two, possibly - especially high-profile games or national TV games at home that might be the navy jersey or another new jersey down the road if something's approved by the NFL to do that," McCord said.

Though that information comes right from a Cowboys staffer, it was debunked by another team employee on Wednesday. Team spokesman Rich Dalrymple told reporters the Cowboys will not wear blue uniforms more at home this year.
