Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will not play the rest of the preseason, but will be available for the regular-season opener, the player announced Friday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Flacco was diagnosed with a disc issue in his back at the beginning of training camp and was reportedly expected to miss three-to-six weeks.
Ryan Mallett has taken over first-team duties in Flacco's absence, helping the Ravens to a 23-3 preseason victory over the Washington Redskins on Thursday.
While Flacco's injury is concerning, his Week 1 return is good news for the Ravens, as they have already lost several offensive players for the season with injury, including Kenneth Dixon, Crockett Gillmore, Nico Siragusa, and Alex Lewis.
