The Cleveland Browns' next preseason game isn't until Monday, but the starter has already been revealed.
Brock Osweiler will start his second consecutive preseason game when the Browns take on the New York Giants in exhibition action.
"Brock is going to start. DeShone (Kizer) is going to go second. And Cody (Kessler) will play third and then Kevin (Hogan) will play fourth," head coach Hue Jackson revealed Wednesday.
The Browns entered training camp with a quarterback competition between Osweiler, Kessler, and Kizer. Osweiler, the most experienced passer of the group, has been given every preseason start, however. It's a surprising development considering he was acquired in a salary dump from the Houston Texans and wasn't expected to stick with the team.
The Browns may still be showcasing the five-year pro for a potential trade. But veteran left tackle Joe Thomas is of the belief the team is grooming Osweiler to be its starter in the regular season.
Kizer, the team's second-round draft pick, is also being given every opportunity to prove himself a worthy pro as he will be the second quarterback up in Monday's game.
