Rest and rehab didn't work.
Indianapolis Colts center Ryan Kelly was expected to be out just a few weeks with a foot injury and return for Week 1 of the 2017 season, however, head coach Chuck Pagano said Thursday that Kelly will require surgery and miss regular-season time.
The injury is a bone defect in his foot that will sideline Kelly for six-to-eight weeks, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
The Colts will look at free-agent options at the position, Pagano said, according to George Bremer of The Herald Bulletin.
Kelly injured his foot last week during practice.
The 2016 first-round draft pick hasn't missed a game or start in his career.
