NFL re-ups 'My Cleats, My Cause' promotion for Week 13

NFL players will once again be permitted to wear cleats with whatever design they like - within reason - for one week only in 2017.

The league will continue the "My Cleats, My Cause" campaign which debuted in Week 13 of the 2016 season, according to Jonathan Jones of The MMQB.

It's the continuation of an effort by the "No Fun League" to relax overly strict guidelines on personalizing uniforms and/or cleats. A memo sent through the league earlier this month declared players would be permitted to wear personalized cleats during "pregame activities," so long as the activities take place before team warmups.

The campaign is designed to allow players to show off their commitment to charitable causes. More than 1,300 players have expressed interest in taking part in the campaign this season, according to Jones.

The league managed to maintain it's no-nonsense image during last season's promotion. Then Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham was fined $6,076 for wearing Yeezy cleats - designed by rapper Kanye West - which he claimed were in honor of the Yeezy Foundation.

The cause didn't pass the league's validation, or a simple Google search.
