Madden 18 Ratings Analysis: Defensive Backs

Jay Biggerstaff / USA TODAY Sports

theScore's Jack Browne and Mitch Sanderson take a deep dive into the ratings from the newly released Madden 18 video game.

QB | RB | WR | TE | OL | K/P
DL | LB | DB | Rookie | Team

Defensive Back Position Team Rating
Kam Chancellor SS Seahawks 95
Eric Berry SS Chiefs 94
Chris Harris Jr. CB Broncos 94
Aqib Talib CB Broncos 94
Earl Thomas FS Seahawks 94
Harrison Smith FS Vikings 93
Eric Weddle FS Ravens 93
Malcolm Butler CB Patriots 92
Landon Collins SS Giants 92
Devin McCourty FS Patriots 92
Patrick Peterson CB Cardinals 91
Reshad Jones SS Dolphins 91
Richard Sherman CB Seahawks 90
Josh Norman CB Redskins 90
Desmond Trufant CB Falcons 89

One certainty in Madden 18 is that passing against the Seahawks and Broncos will be a very difficult task. Richard Sherman seems low as a 90 but he's still the game's fifth-best cornerback and he's got the support of Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas behind him.

Malcolm Butler has proven to be plenty more than a one-play wonder in his two seasons since sealing Super Bowl XLIX, though few have given him as much credit as a top-three cornerback.

Landon Collins' breakout season did wonders for his Madden rating, moving him all the way up from 75 to 92. With Janoris Jenkins and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie just missing the top-15 list as 89 ratings, the Giants defensive backfield is right up there with the Broncos' and Seahawks'.
