Report: Chiefs believe Ware suffered PCL injury; will undergo MRI

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs believe running back Spencer Ware suffered a PCL injury during Friday's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Ware is believed to have avoided an ACL injury and will undergo an MRI Saturday to determine the extent of the injury.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters that Ware suffered a sprained knee.

The running back clutched his knee immediately after being tackled during the first quarter of the game. Ware finished with 15 yards on three carries before exiting the game.

Ware was carted off and the Chiefs promptly ruled him out of the game.

If Ware's injury will keep him out of the season, expect rookie Kareem Hunt and Charcandrick West to vie for the team's starting role.
