Elliott makes preseason debut while preparing for appeal

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott made his preseason debut Saturday against the Oakland Raiders, while he prepares to appeal his six-game suspension issued on Aug. 11 for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Elliott finished with 18 yards rushing on six carries, adding two receptions for six yards before exiting the contest.

The standout running back will appeal his suspension Tuesday in New York in front of arbitrator Harold Henderson, and has been excused from practices to prepare his arguments.

If Elliott's suspension is upheld, Darren McFadden is expected to take over as the Cowboys' starting running back.
