The Cincinnati Bengals signed Vontaze Burfict to a three-year extension Thursday, the team confirmed in a press release.
ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the story.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed by the club, but Schefter reported that Burfict's extension is worth $38.6 million.
Burfict is serving a three-game suspension to begin the season due to an illegal hit delivered on Kansas City Chiefs fullback Anthony Sherman.
The 26-year-old recorded 101 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble in 11 games during the 2016 season.
Burfict was named to the Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro team in 2013 and has been an integral part of the Bengals' defense since being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State in 2012.
