Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers

Maybe due to a collective temporary insanity, many wondered if Rodgers was beginning to regress after a slow start in 2016. He didn't just prove his doubters wrong, he made them look foolish for ever questioning his talent. Rodgers will want to prove again he's the best the league has to offer. - Jack Browne

Nobody in the NFL does more with less around him than Rodgers. The two-time MVP will work his magic once again en route to another magical season. - Alex Chippin

Tom Brady, QB, Patriots

Brady will edge Aaron Rodgers in a narrow vote, with the electorate deeming the Patriots' star worthy of the MVP for being the best player on the league's runaway best team. At 40, Brady's showed no signs of decline. - Arun Srinivasan

The Patriots are heavily favored to win the Super Bowl once again, and many are predicting another 16-0 regular season. Brady was named the MVP in 2007, when the Patriots last accomplished the feat, and he remains their most important player. - Esten McLaren

Le'Veon Bell, RB, Steelers

It's the ultimate contract year for Bell, who has a stated goal of re-setting the running-back market. Armed with the motivation of playing for a championship as well as a monster long-term contract, Bell will put together a 16-game campaign for the ages. - Michael McClymont

Derek Carr, QB, Raiders

The Raiders are on the doorstep of the league's elite, and Carr will be worthy of top recognition if he can break that door down. - Dylan Perego

Dak Prescott, QB, Cowboys

This is certainly a dark-horse pick, but Prescott has a great opportunity to build on his Rookie of the Year award without Ezekiel Elliott on the roster. If the Cowboys can be a winning team in Elliott's absence, Prescott will be handed all the credit, and we already know how much the voters love him after taking home the ROY award over his teammate last year. - Mitch Sanderson
