Browns trade former 1st-round pick Erving to Chiefs for 2018 5th-rounder
The Cleveland Browns' rebuild continues in earnest.
After releasing long-time corner Joe Haden on Wednesday, the Browns announced the trade of offensive lineman Cameron Erving - a 2015 first-round pick - to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2018 fifth-round draft pick.
The Browns were rumored to be shopping Erving, who'd been reduced to a backup role after the offseason addition of JC Tretter at center.
Cleveland has turned over a roster that last year struggled to finish 1-15.
For the Chiefs, Erving likely slides right into the starting lineup, flanked by guards Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and Byran Witzmann, and tackles Mitchell Schwartz and Eric Fisher.
