The Detroit Lions have traded 2015 first-round pick Laken Tomlinson to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 2019 fifth-round pick, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.
The guard never came close to living up to his draft status. He started 24 games over the first two years of his career, was benched in favor of third-round rookie Graham Glasgow last season, and has been further buried in the depth chart during training camp.
San Francisco executive Martin Mayhew drafted Tomlinson when he was Lions general manager.
