Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard believes it's likely that Andrew Luck will come off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list before the start of the regular season.
"All indications are we're going to take Andrew off PUP," Ballard revealed during the Colts' pregame radio broadcast.
If Luck were to begin the year on the PUP list, he'd be forced to miss the first six weeks of the regular season.
Luck underwent corrective surgery after the 2016 season ended to repair a shoulder injury.
Colts head coach Chuck Pagano refused to provide a timeline for Luck's return before the quarterback was cleared by the team's medical personnel.
There is the distinct possibility that Luck gets taken off the PUP list, but Scott Tolzien will get the nod for the opener while the star quarterback recovers.
