Cowboys' Garrett: Elliott to practice 'until someone tells him not to'

Matthew Emmons / USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys will continue to involve Ezekiel Elliott in their practices and meetings until it's officially against the rules do so.

With the running back's appeal ruling still up in the air and the hearing for his temporary restraining order set for Tuesday evening, the Cowboys are continuing with Elliott as if business is usual. Head coach Jason Garrett said Elliott will continue to practice with the team and won't attend the hearing for his restraining order Tuesday.

"We're just going to prepare for the Giants, and Zeke will practice until someone tells him not to," Garrett said, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. "And the other guys will get ready to play."

If arbitrator Harold Henderson does not make a ruling on Elliott's appeal by 4 p.m. ET, the running back will be eligible to suit up Week 1 against the New York Giants. However, for the suspension to be dismissed entirely, Henderson would need to rule in favor of Elliott and overturn the six-game ban.

Garrett added that Elliott has prepared himself to be a part of the Giants game plan should he become eligible to play Sunday.
